How to use the calculator

Enter the information about your existing credit card and press Calculate. In the results section, you will then see how much money you can save with a Lloyds TSB credit card over the time it takes to repay the balance. You will also see how much you would pay in total and the time taken to pay off the balance on that card.

The following information should be entered:

  • Interest rate: Please enter the Annual Percentage Rate (APR) that your outstanding balance is being repaid at on your current card. When entering your APR, please ensure that if there is a fee on your current product that it is included in the rate. Potentially, if an incorrect rate is used, it could lead to the calculator giving an under valued savings result. If you are unsure, use the Purchase Rate from your credit card statement and remember that any fees that you would pay over the period shown would also be a saving.
  • Monthly repayment: Please enter the amount you're proposing to pay off (or already are paying off) your card balance every month. Please enter at least 2.5% into this calculator to ensure that your balance would be reduced every month and we can calculate your savings.
  • Outstanding balance: Please enter the total amount outstanding (or owed) on your existing card, which you wish to transfer.

      • Never borrow more than you can afford to repay. Balance transfer offers apply for a fixed period of time. After this, you will pay a higher rate of interest, which compounds annually.

      How we calculate your saving

      • The figures show the interest saving made over the life of the balance until it clears covering both the stated promotional rate introductory period and the standard interest rate that applies after the promotional rate period, compared to your current APR, provided constant repayments are made.
      • The calculator assumes that there are no further transactions made, a constant monthly repayment is made, and that there is a constant interest rate charged on your existing card from the account opening.
      • Where applicable, the cost of a balance transfer fee of 3% (minimum of £3) is included in the calculation of the saving
      • After the promotional period ends, you will be charged the standard rate of interest in accordance with the card you select.
      • You can transfer a balance of up to 95% of the available Lloyds TSB credit card limit. By doing so within the first 90 days of the account opening, you will benefit from the balance transfer offer rates.
      • The minimum value that can be balance transferred is £100.

      1  Eligible spend does not include cash withdrawals, money transfers, cheques, interest, fees or charges, Payment Protection Cover, transactions at casinos, betting outlets or bookmakers or payments to offline or online current, savings, sharetrading, spread betting, gambling or any other similar account.

      2  1. One Companion Ticket will be awarded per customer per year subject to a minimum credit card spend of 15,000 per year. 15,000 spend threshold excludes balance transfers, refunded purchases, interest, fees and other charges. 2. To qualify for a Companion Ticket the cardholder must have spent a minimum of 15,000 in the 12 months preceding the anniversary of opening the Lloyds TSB Premier Duo Avios Credit Card Account. In each subsequent year cardholders will qualify if, they have spent a minimum of 15,000 in the preceding 12 months. Companion tickets are limited to one per year. A year will commence on the anniversary of the credit card account. 3. Cardholders will be notified if they have qualified for a Companion Ticket via a voucher on their Avios online account approximately 4 weeks after reaching the spend threshold of 15,000. 4. Companion Tickets must be booked online by visiting www.avios.com. For queries please contact 0844 493 3399. 5. The Companion Ticket voucher will be valid for a period of 12 months. Your booking must be made within 12 months after which time the Companion Ticket voucher will expire.  6. Companion Tickets are available on British Airways flights only when used in conjunction with economy class bookings that are purchased with Avios (excluding airline taxes, fees and charges). Cash-only purchases shall be excluded. British Airways routes are subject to change and availability. 7. Companion tickets are subject to availability, the Avios Terms and Conditions and the payment of airline taxes, fees and charges. 8. Cardholders' use of Companion Tickets will be limited to one ticket per booking. 9. The Companion must travel to the same destination as the cardholder and be accompanied by the cardholder in order to take advantage of the Companion Ticket. 10. Companion Tickets cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer and are non-transferable and, non-refundable. 11. Neither the Bank nor Avios can guarantee that a Cardholder will be able to use a Companion Ticket on a particular flight. 12. Avios reserve the right to withdraw or amend this offer upon providing reasonable notice. 13.       If there is a conflict between the Credit Card Conditions and Lloyds TSB Avios Conditions on the one hand and the Avios Conditions on the other, the Avios Conditions shall prevail insofar as the relevant rules affect or purport to affect the Avios Scheme.

The 15,000 Avios will show on the customer’s Avios account within 90 days of the qualifying spend being achieved.

      4 Customers who apply through Lloyds TSB and are accepted for the Lloyds TSB Premier Duo Avios Credit Card Account by 31st July 2013 will be eligible for the 20,000 Avios bonus, if they spend £500 a month for the first 3 months on eligible purchases on their Lloyds TSB Premier Duo Avios American Express Card from account opening date. The 20,000 Avios will show on the customer’s Avios account within 90 days of the qualifying spend being achieved.

      *Minimum balance transfer is £100 and is subject to your credit limit. Balances must be transferred within 90 days of opening the account and your promotional period starts from the date we open your account. Balance transfer fee applies. If you don't pay off your balance in full, any payments you make will pay off Transactions charging the highest rate of interest first, and so on down to the lowest rate of interest in the following order: Cash Withdrawals, Purchases, Balance Transfers, Cheques, followed by the default charges.

      **The standard balance transfer fee of 3% will be applied when a balance transfer is processed. For example, if a customer transfers £1,500 a BT fee of £45 will be applied. We'll refund 66.6% of that, i.e. £30 into the customer's credit card account within 60 days of the qualifying balance transfer completion date. Minimum balance transfer amount is £100.

      ***The standard balance transfer fee of 3% will be applied when a balance transfer is processed. For example, if a customer transfers £1,500 a BT fee of £45 will be applied. We'll refund 50% of that, i.e. £22.50 into the customer's credit card account within 60 days of the qualifying balance transfer completion date. Minimum balance transfer amount is £100.

      Lloyds TSB Duo Avios Credit Card Account collection rates are 1 Avios for every £1 of eligible spend with your Lloyds TSB Duo Avios American Express Card, and 1 Avios for every £5 of eligible spend with the Lloyds TSB Duo Avios MasterCard.

      Lloyds TSB Premier Duo Avios Credit Card Account collection rates are 1.25 Avios for every £1 of eligible spend with your Lloyds TSB Premier Duo Avios American Express Card, and 1.25 Avios for every £5 of eligible spend with the Lloyds TSB Premier Duo Avios MasterCard.
