Grace period if you go over your limit. You have until 3.30pm (UK Time) to pay in enough money to avoid any overdraft fees you may incur that day. Up to £1,500 interest and fee-free tiered Planned Overdraft
In your first year of your studies you can apply for an interest and fee-free Planned Overdraft of up to £1,500 (subject to application and approval). Starting with £500 for the first six months. You can then apply to increase it to £1,000 in months seven to nine and from month 10 up to £1,500 – helping you to manage your spending over your first year. We also offer an interest and fee-free untiered Planned Overdraft of up to £1,500 in years two and three and up to £2,000 in years four, five and six (subject to application and approval).
Three year Youth Hostel Association (YHA) membership

All you need to open a Student Account is your UCAS confirmation letter or a letter from your university or college confirming your place. If you are a new customer we’ll also need to see proof of your ID and address (opens in a new window).

Existing customers
If you’re an existing customer, you can upgrade your account to a student account at any Lloyds TSB branch. All you need is your UCAS confirmation letter or a letter from your university or college confirming your place.

† A permanent UK resident is defined as a person who has lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to commencing higher education studies.
Account opening is subject to our assessment of your circumstances. You must be 17 or over to apply.
The Student Current Account is only available to full-time students who are permanently resident in the UK. Applicants must be at least 17 years old and must be studying for a full-time course that lasts for a minimum of two years or be on a one-year access course leading on to a full-time degree.
