Text alerts setup service

Register for Text alerts and we'll send messages straight to your mobile phone so you don't lose touch with your money.

We have two text services available:

Balance Advice - Free service

Our Balance Advice service can send messages to show your personal or business current account balance and up to the last six transactions, so you'll have a clear picture of what's gone in and out of your account recently.
  • Choose which day e.g. Monday to Friday to receive your weekly message alert, it's completely up to you,
  • If you hold a business account you can choose to receive your Text alerts daily or weekly,
  • Select the time of day you'd prefer to receive Text alerts; from early morning through to afternoon.

Limit Alerts - Chargeable service

Our Limit Alert service will send you a message when you get close to or go over your personal current account limit. It gives you the chance to put money in your account to help you avoid paying extra overdraft fees.

You could receive two types of alert:
  • A Near Limit alert tells you if you're within £50 of your account limit.
  • An Over Limit alert will tell you when your balance is over your account limit or if a payment (for example, a standing order) can't be made.
You'll receive your Text Alert by 10am and, thanks to our new grace period, will have until 3.30pm that day to put money into your account to cover all the payments you've requested or want to make.

This service costs £2.50 a month or part month for each account, although if you have a Premier account or are a Private Banking customer the service is free.

Limit alerts should only be used as a way of helping you manage your account not a guaranteed way of ensuring you avoid all charges. Please check your statements regularly to make sure you have enough money in your account or arrange a Planned Overdraft to cover payments when you don't have enough money.
