To help you, here are some of the most common questions asked about travel insurance cover. 

Q. If I am over 70 years of age can I get insurance?
A. Yes you can, cover is available for you up to and including the age of 74 at policy start date or renewal.

Q. What does ‘Excluding Baggage’ cover mean exactly?
A. It means that you can reduce the premium you pay by electing not to include cover under this section if you feel you have adequate cover with your household insurance for personal possessions whilst abroad and in particular for the period of travel (some policies limit cover to 30 or 60 days in any one year).

Q. What is the maximum limit for valuable items such as jewellery or video cameras?
A. The maximum limit for all such items under the baggage section of the policy is £300.  There is also a limit for any one article, pair or set of articles of £300.

Q. Can my children travel separately and still be covered under an annual family policy?
A. No. Under the annual multi trip policy only the adults are insured to travel on their own.

Q. My son is aged 22 and at university, can he be covered under the family cover?
A. Yes, the family cover applies to your children, step children or foster children aged under 18 (or 23 if in full time education) accompanying you on the trip.

Q. What is travel disruption cover?
A. Travel disruption cover offers some of the financial protection you would receive when purchasing a package holiday. It also includes cover for insolvency of airlines or accommodation providers, missed connections, volcanic ash clouds and natural disasters plus more.

Q. I am going backpacking for six months, am I covered?
A. The maximum trip length permitted on a Single Trip policy is 183 days so this may be sufficient for your trip.

Q. I intend to stay in France for about 3 months, am I covered?
A. Yes, you could take a single trip policy for the length of your stay.

Q. I have just booked my holiday which is more than 12 months in advance. Can I take out a policy for this?
A. Single trip policies cannot be issued more than 1 year in advance.
