Hints and tips for using Internet banking
Help logging on for the first time
What do I need to log on for the first time?
1. Your User ID - which you will have received in the post or online.
2. Password - which you entered (or were provided with) when you first registered.
If you’ve lost or forgotten these details, please see information on lost or forgotten User ID or Password.
Making it easy to remember your User ID
To save you having to remember your User ID, we’ve made it possible to save it to your computer via a cookie. This means that your computer will automatically display it every time you go to log on. To do this select the ‘Remember User ID’ tick box next time you log on.
For security reasons, please don’t use this facility on a shared or public computer, for example in an internet café.

What happens after I have entered my User ID and Password?
As an extra security measure you’ll be asked to select some Memorable Information. You will be asked to enter some characters from this each time you log on.
Your Memorable Information must be a mixture of letters and numbers and be between 6 and 15 characters long.
Please don’t include spaces, hyphens or special characters (e.g. #) and it can’t be the same as your existing Password or User ID.
Make sure you can recall it easily as you’ll be asked to input 3 characters from it each time you log on. For example, if you used LLOYDSTSB10, you might be asked for the 4th, 8th and 10th characters, i.e. ‘Y’, ‘S’ and ‘1’. Please choose something that can’t be easily guessed by others.
You may also be asked to enter an email address and accept some legal conditions if you didn’t do this as part of your registration.

Logging on a second time
What’s the difference between User ID, Password, and Memorable Information?
You’ll need all three pieces of information to log on to Internet banking.
User ID – this is sent to you through the post when you register. You can’t change this to something else more memorable, but you can choose save it to your computer so you don’t have to enter it each time you log on to Internet banking.
For security reasons, please don’t save your User ID on a shared or public computer, for example in an internet café.
Password – you will have either selected a Password of your choice, or been provided with one (which you will then be asked to change) when you register for Internet banking. This information can be changed to something of your choice once you are logged on to Internet banking.
Memorable Information – the first time you log onto Internet banking you are asked to select some Memorable Information. This must be a mixture of letters and numbers and be between 6 and 15 characters long. Each time you log on you will be asked to provide 3 random characters from your Memorable Information. This information can be changed once you are logged on to Internet banking.
What happens the second time I log on?
When you log on for the second time, you’ll need to enter your User ID and Password, you’ll then be asked to provide 3 random characters from the Memorable Information that you chose the first time you logged on.
For example, if you used LLOYDSTSB10, you might be asked for the 4th, 8th and 10th characters, i.e. ‘Y’, ‘S’ and ‘1’.
Every time you log on to Internet banking after this, you’ll go through this same process.
