You can set up some or all of the following Text Alerts; all for one monthly charge per account.
Plus you can have a choice of Free Alerts.
Mobile Banking

Limit Alerts
We’ll send you a text when you’re getting near to or over your account limit so you can avoid any Unplanned Overdraft charges. If your account goes over its limit, you have until 3.30pm (UK time) that day to pay in enough money to cover all your payments. Or you can arrange a planned overdraft and you won’t incur a penny in overdraft fees.
High/Low Balance Alerts
You can set your own limits. High Balance Alerts will let you know when to move excess money into a savings account. Low Balance Alerts will help make sure you always have enough money in your account for the things you want to do.
Mobile Banking
Once you’ve selected at least one of the above alerts you can sign up for Mobile Banking at no extra charge. It’s a simple application you download to your mobile phone. You’ll then be able to use it to do all of the following:
How much does it cost?
For a monthly fee of £2.50 for each current account you have registered, you can choose from any of the Text Alerts above and Mobile Banking. The monthly fee remains the same whether you receive several texts in a month or none.
If you have a Student account you can receive the same service free until October 2010 (and £2.50 after that). The service is free for Premier accounts and Private Banking accounts.
Online
To register for Mobile Banking, just take two simple steps and follow the on-screen instructions:
1. Log on to Internet Banking, select ‘Mobile Services’ from the left hand menu and enter your mobile number.
2. Select the Text Alerts you’d like from either the ‘Free Alerts’ or ‘Mobile Banking pack’ - if you’ve registered for at least one of the Text Alerts in the Mobile Banking pack, you can then register for Mobile Banking.
By text (Limit Alerts only)
If you have a debit card you can do the following:
1. Text the following to 61119: REG (space) your Sort Code (space) then your Account Number e.g. REG 123456 12345678. We’ll reply immediately, asking for the last four digits of your debit card numbers as your Activation Code.
2. Then reply with the following: ACT (space) then the last four digits from the front of your debit card e.g. ACT 6789. We’ll then reply with a thank-you message to confirm your Limit Alerts are set up.
