What you can do

Making a payment to another person is easy. Just add a new recipient every time you pay a person for the first time.

Once you’ve set up a recipient, select them from your existing recipients list and click on Make a payment.

Example of a Lloyds TSB statement

The first time you pay a bill or a credit card, you’ll need to add the company you are paying as a new recipient and give us their billing details. If you don’t have them, use our search tool to find the company you want to pay.

If you want to pay the same company again, click the name, type in the amount to pay and specify when you’d like the payment to leave your account. You’re done in an instant.

The vast majority of payments from Lloyds TSB current accounts to Lloyds TSB credit cards will now arrive within two hours.

To pay your Lloyds TSB credit cards click on the link displayed on the Popular searches section and follow the instructions on your screen.

Check your Direct Debits

Monitor your outgoings when you keep track of your Direct Debits online. You can:

  • see all your Direct Debits including when they were last paid and their frequency.
  • cancel your Direct Debits – although it’s always worth contacting the company you’re paying to confirm the cancellation, so no payments are taken by mistake (especially if you’re still receiving services from them).

You can’t set up Direct Debits online – that needs to done by the company you are paying.

Manage your standing orders

It’s easy to set up and manage standing orders online. These are payments of a fixed amount, to people and companies, at a regular time chosen by you.

To set up a standing order, you’ll need to know:

  • the recipient’s details, account number and sort code
  • the amount you want to pay them, and the frequency
  • the date of the first payment.

You may also need a reference if you’re paying a company.

You can see, add, change or delete any of your standing orders online whenever you want – it’s also a great way to save regularly from your current account or make payments to a credit card.

  • What’s the difference between Direct Debits and standing orders?

A Direct Debit is a method of payment where you give a company permission to withdraw money from your account and pay it into their account. Many companies offer a discount or special terms for customers who choose to pay in this way, making it an ideal method for paying utility bills such as electricity. Only companies can be paid using this method, not individuals.

A standing order is an instruction you give to your bank to pay a fixed amount to someone else or to one of your own eligible Lloyds TSB accounts on a regular basis, for a set amount of time. The payments are taken from your account on agreed dates, usually monthly.
