Personal Tax Service

Expert guidance through your tax affairs

If you find filling in your tax return tedious and time consuming, or you need specialist tax advice for exceptional situations, such as selling your business, our Personal Tax Service can help with these and a whole range of other tax issues.

We have chosen Ernst & Young to provide our Personal Tax Service as they are trusted and world renowned experts in their field, with a history dating back to the nineteenth century. Our collaboration with their centre of excellence allows us to offer a truly personal tax service.

Ernst & Young will introduce you to your tax executive, a dedicated point of contact who will use their experience to deal with your tax matters and start to build a trusted relationship with you and make your annual return as straightforward as possible.

You can select the level of service that suits you - whether we simply complete your tax return on your behalf, carry out an annual review of your position or get involved in particularly complex tax requirements, such as a one off sale of land for example.

Ernst & Young places as much emphasis on in-depth expertise and a personal, practical approach as we do. Through our relationship with them we ensure you will have access to one of the leading advisers in this specialist area, and a range of service levels to suit your tax planning requirements.

Completing your tax return

Our service takes care of everything, by helping to remove the stress and time it takes to complete your annual Self Assessment Tax return or Income Tax repayment claim form. Your tax executive will make all the relevant calculations, check your tax code and meet every deadline, as well as claiming any tax reliefs, allowances and repayments due to you. The service also includes dealing with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) on your behalf at every stage of the process.

Your Self Assessment Tax return

Ernst & Young can help you to complete your Self Assessment Tax return (if one is required). Your tax executive will make the calculations and complete all the relevant forms and schedules, ready for you to sign, and ensure all deadlines are met. All you need to do is provide the information and records of everything related to your tax affairs.

If you are self-employed, a partner in a business or you receive rental income from a property, you must keep all records for five years and ten months after the deadline for returning your tax return. You will receive all the guidance you need on what information to retain, and we will also let you know of any other documents HMRC might require.

Reviewing your Income Tax position

Even if you don’t need to complete a Self Assessment Tax return, you are responsible to make sure that your tax affairs are in order. You can give the go-ahead for a comprehensive, annual review of your tax position; this ensures that you claim any refunds due to you, or pay any liabilities to HMRC.

Our Capital Gains Tax service

Working out your investment gains and losses to determine Capital Gains Tax can be one of the more difficult elements of the tax return. Your tax executive will make all the calculations relating to your stocks and shares transactions for the previous tax year, and prepare your Capital Gains Tax schedule - in plenty of time to be included in your tax return.

Tax Return Plus

For an additional fee, you can also have access to reactive tax advice on issues that may arise, for example, the tax implications of taking a company car.

The experience to handle real complexity

If your tax situation is a particularly complex one, then it makes sense to utilise Ernst & Young’s specialist knowledge to take care of all your tax affairs, along with advice on how to potentially minimise your tax bill.

This complete service is set up to handle a range of tax situations - from selling your business or looking to diversify a large holding of shares, to leaving the UK. We will introduce you to one of Ernst & Young’s most highly experienced tax advisers for a consultation (with absolutely no obligation at this stage). After this first meeting you will be provided with a detailed fee quote and terms and conditions, giving you enough information to make your decision whether you want to use our service.
